Nash's Garden
Gouache

Process
Through the surrounding flowers and plant life, I aimed to symbolize growth and steadiness, reflecting both Nash’s presence and the sense of grounding he brings. Nash has been a recurring subject throughout my artistic practice, continuing to inspire both personal and creative exploration.

This piece was inspired by my Australian Shepherd, Nash, whose love for the outdoors often keeps him stretched out in the grass, ignoring calls to come inside. His personality is loving, secure, rambunctious, and playful. These traits served as the foundation for this work.

Gouache is a fascinating medium, and I’m glad to have revisited it. Transitioning back to it after working with watercolor can be challenging, as it comes with its own unique quirks. However, its vibrancy and opacity provided exactly what I was looking for in this piece.
